The Little Palm that Could

One of my clients used to have a small palm tree standing on top of her desk, placed in a way that she could always see with her peripheral vision.

Whenever she wrote a blog post, a sales letter or any other content that was directed at someone in the void, she glanced over to this plant, asking herself:

If this plant were my ideal lead/customer/reader/recipient, would she be happy with what I’m writing right now?

Such a simple thing to do. Silly? Probably. — Effective? You bet.
