Morgan Meis, author of the article I mentioned in yesterday’s post, was kind enough to follow up to an e-mail, pointing me to this page with a dozen variations of the Frog Prince tale collected by Professor emeritus D. L. Ashliman. Apart from the breadth of variations, what struck me most was the subhead:

Aarne…what? Turns out there is a classification system for folk tales. Excuse me—I’ll be in my bunk.
